The Reading Fightin Phils were shutout by the Somerset Patriots 7-0 on Friday night.
Arquimedes Gamboa led off the game with a single. Reading had three other his throughout the contest. Matt Kroon reached on a bunt single while Grenny Cumana and Luke Miller had hits as well.
Gamboa extended his on-base streak to 20 games tonight, while Miller’s single put his hit streak at nine games.
Adam Leverett (L, 0-4) put together a good start. The righty pitched 5.1 innings, his longest outing of the season. He allowed six hits and four earned runs. Leverett struck out seven, his highest count in an appearance. Aneurys Zabala was first out of the ‘pen. In two-thirds inning of he let two hits, two walks, and three runs, two earned. Ross took the ball for a clean seventh and eighth. Zach Warren came in to finish the ninth, taking down the Patriots 1-2-3.
