2014 first round pick was 7-3 with 1.88 ERA in 12 starts for Reading this season
June 14, 2015

READING, Pa.)---Philadelphia Phillies 2014 first-round pick and Fightins starter Aaron Nola has been promoted from Reading to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the Phillies announced this afternoon.

In 12 starts this season for the Fightins, Nola was 7-3 with a 1.88 ERA over 76.2 innings. He struck out 59 batters to just nine walks at Double-A this season. His innings mark led Eastern League pitchers while his ERA ranked third in the league. He was also tied with four others with his win total.

Nola was part of a rotation in Baseballtown that boasted five of the Phillies' Top 10 prospects, including offseason acquisitions Zach Eflin, Ben Lively, and Tom Windle.

Nola, who made his debut with the Fightins last August, was drafted out of LSU with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 draft. Nola went 4-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 11 combined starts between Clearwater (A+) and Reading last season and became the first Phillies first round pick since 1986 to be drafted and make his Double-A debut in the same season. The right-handed pitcher is a two-time All-American and was the only pitcher in SEC history to be awarded Pitcher of the Year honors twice.
