Pivetta earns first AA win as Fightins sweep Senators

The Fightins swept their third straight series with a 3-0 win over Harrisburg

The Fightin Phils (67-50) shutout the Harrisburg Senators (56-62) 3-0 for their tenth straight win and third straight series sweep on Thursday night. The Fightin Phils earned their first shutout win since June 6th at Binghamton.  

The Fightin Phils struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning off Senators starter John Simms. Brock Stassi and Andrew Knapp hit back-to-back singles with one out to keep the inning alive. Destin Hood hit a RBI single that scored Stassi and gave Reading a 1-0 lead. Knapp's single extended his hitting streak to 11 games.  

Nick Pivetta (1-3) struck out a season-high eight batters in 5 2/3 innings while giving up just three hits and one walk in his first double-A win. Ryan O'Sullivan entered the game with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Sullivan didn't allow a run in 1 1/3 innings in relief. He walked one batter and recorded one strikeout. Simms allowed just one run in six innings for Harrisburg.  

Nick Williams hit a one-out RBI single off Abel De Los Santos in the bottom of the seventh inning that gave Reading a 2-0 lead. Angelo Mora scored on the single. Tom Windle entered the game in the top of the eighth inning. After an error by Angelo Mora, he received a double-play and got Brian Goodwin to fly-out to left field to end the inning.

Andrew Knapp homered for the seventh time as a Fightin Phil off Dakota Bacus in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Reading a 3-0 lead. Stephen Shackleford retired the side in the top of the ninth inning for his 26th save.  

The Fightin Phils head back to Trenton on Friday night. First pitch is at 7:00 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:00 pm.
