Hoskins blasts 37th home run in loss to Fisher Cats

Hoskins and Cozens are now tied with 37 home runs

(Reading, Pa) - The Fightin Phils (83-48) have lost six out of their last seven games as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (64-69) won 5-3 on Saturday night. Rhys Hoskins tied Dylan Cozens in home runs by hitting his 37th home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was a two-run home run to tie the game.  

Gabriel Lino hit his third home run of the season off Fisher Cats starter Connor Greene in the bottom of the third to give Reading a 1-0 lead. The Fisher Cats scored three runs off Tyler Viza in the top of the fifth to take a 3-1 lead. Christian Lopes hit a two-run triple then scored on a RBI groundout from Richard Urena.

Viza left the game after five innings as he allowed three runs off four hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Victor Arano entered the game in the top of the sixth. He pitched two scoreless innings before Jimmy Cordero pitched a scoreless top of the eighth.

Christian Marrero walked with one out against Fisher Cats reliever Brady Dragmire in the bottom of the seventh.  Hoskins then hit a two-run home run to tike the game at 3-3. Miguel Nunez (4-3) took the mound in the top of the ninth. Christian Lopes hit a two-run single to give New Hampshire a 5-3 lead.  

Angelo Mora hit a one-out single against Will Browning (3-2) in the bottom of the ninth. Marrero and Hoskins both made outs to end the game in the bottom of the ninth.    

The Fightin Phils and FisherCats wrap up their season series on Sunday afternoon from FirstEnergy Stadium. First pitch is at 2:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98.5 and fightins.com beginning at 1:35 pm.
