ROME, Ga – The Braves put up runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to extend game four into extras, but failed to seal the deal in the 5-4 loss.

Rome managed just two hits in their first six turns at the plate. On the hill, 19-year-old Owen Murphy made just his third start in High-A. Two runs given up in the second by Murphy and two more in the sixth spelled trouble from the young right-hander. Still, Murphy finished six full innings and struck out five. He avoided the loss thanks to four runs across the final three frames for the Braves offense.

Nacho Alvarez doubled in the seventh to bring home Kilpatrick Jr. who had reached on a walk. A passed ball and a Bryson Worrell single brought Rome within one in the eighth before Nacho’s second run scoring base hit tied the game in the ninth. The Braves notched a zero in the top of the tenth but squandered a golden opportunity in the home half by failing to score the ghost runner from third. Rome wouldn’t be so lucky in the 11th after a game ending double play.

Having taken three of the first four games in the series, Rome can still finish 66-66 with two wins this weekend. First pitch tomorrow is set for 5:00 pm EDT.
