ROME, Ga – Errors were to blame for the four-run top of the fifth inning that put the Braves in an erasable 5-1 hole against the Winston-Salem Dash.

With two on and one out in the fifth, a groundball back to Pitcher Jonathan Hughes ended up in shallow center after an errant throw. Winston-Salem went on to score four runs after what could have been an inning-ending double play. The Dash tacked on two more in the seventh and bested the Braves 7-2 behind a strong start from Mason Adams.

Keshawn Ogans accounted for three of Rome’s seven hits and drove in both runs. His line drive to center in the third scored Geraldo Quintero from second and his solo shot (8) to left field in the sixth brought the Braves within three. Ogans’ 3-for-4 day at the plate brings his August average up to .349. He’s driven in 16 base runners in the first two series of the month.

Just 24 games stand between Rome and the offseason. The Braves have six scheduled with the Hickory Crawdads this upcoming week. At 20-22, Rome is 9.0 games back of Hickory in the South.
