Rome Shuts Down Greenville 6-5

The Rome Braves (7-5) defeated the Greenville Drive (4-7) Monday evening at State Mutual Stadium by a final score of 6-5 before a sellout crowd of 5,105.

 

The Braves cracked the scoreboard in the second inning when Justin Ellison tripled to start the frame and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Carlos Castro for the 1-0 score. Rome posted two more runs in the fourth on Jonathan Morales' RBI single and Castro's double to score the second run. The fifth inning saw the Braves make it a 6-0 game. Ray-Patrick Didder added a run scoring single and Austin Riley doubled home two runs. Greenville made it a 6-3 game in the eighth on LA Basabe's two run single and Michael Chavis' RBI double. The Drive made it a 6-5 game in the ninth on LA Basabe's (7) two run home run but Rome held on to get the victory.    

 

Max Fried (7-5) gets the victory coming into pitch in the second inning in relief of Eric O'Flaherty. Fried went four innings allowing no runs while striking out five. O'Flaherty pitched one inning allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out two in a rehab appearance.  

Greenville starter Logan Boyd (7-5) is tagged with the loss. Josh Graham (3) earns the save.
