Will Lamb promoted to Frisco

RoughRiders place Kyle Lotzkar on disabled list
June 16, 2014

FRISCO, TEXAS (JUNE 16, 2014) - The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will receive left-handed pitcher Will Lamb from Advanced-A Myrtle Beach and place right-handed pitcher Kyle Lotzkar on the disabled list with a left quadriceps injury.

Lamb, 23, will make his Double-A debut with the RoughRiders. The 6-foot-6 180-pound hurler began the season in extended spring training and joined the Pelicans on April 18. Lamb posted a 1-1 record with two saves and a 2.41 ERA through 18 2/3 innings and 14 games played. He allowed five runs on 17 hits with nine walks and 25 strikeouts in the Carolina League. The Rangers selected the southpaw in the second round of the 2011 June draft out of Clemson. Lamb becomes the eighth player received from Myrtle Beach this season.

Lotzkar is the fourth member of the RoughRiders currently on the disabled list. He joins Patrick Cantwell (right wrist contusion) and fellow pitchers Ryan Rodebaugh (right shoulder discomfort) and Keone Kela (left calf strain). The 24-year-old strained his left quad on Sunday against the Midland RockHounds, a game in which the righty lasted two innings and surrendered five runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Through 35 innings with the 'Riders this season, the 6-foot-5 210-pound Lotzkar has posted a 0-2 record with a 6.94 ERA. Seven of his 13 appearances have been starts. The Rangers signed Lotzkar as a free agent from the Cincinnati Reds organization after the 2013 season.

With the transactions today, Frisco's roster remains at 25 players, the Texas League limit.

The RoughRiders are in the midst of a 12-game road trip, their longest stretch away from Dr Pepper Ballpark this season. Following the current four-game series with the RockHounds, Frisco will return to Corpus Christi for four games against the Hooks.

The 'Riders next return to Dr Pepper Ballpark after the Texas League All-Star Game on Wednesday, June 25 to being a six-game homestand. For tickets and information on how to see the RoughRiders in 2014, please call (972) 731-9200, e-mail [email protected] or visit www.RidersBaseball.com
