The New York Yankees announced today that third baseman Miguel Andújar and right-handed pitcher Domingo Acevedo were named winners of the 2017 Kevin Lawn Award as the Yankees' minor league "Player of the Year" and "Pitcher of the Year," respectively. The two players received their awards prior to today's Yankees game vs. the Marlins at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The annual awards are dedicated to Kevin O'Brien Lawn-the son of longtime Yankees Vice President and Chief of Operations Jack Lawn-who passed away in 1999.

Andújar, 23, hit .315/.352/.498 (151-for-480) with 66R, 36 doubles, 2 triples, 16HR and 82RBI in 125 games between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The third baseman led all Yankees farmhands in batting average and doubles (36), ranked third in RBI and was named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star. The Dominican Republic native made his Major League debut on June 28, 2017, against the White Sox in Chicago, going 3-for-4 with 1 double, 4RBI, 1BB and 1SB in a start at designated hitter and setting a Yankees record for RBI in a Major League debut. Following the season, Andújar was tabbed by Baseball America as the Yankees' No. 5 prospect and the No. 59 overall prospect in the sport.

Acevedo, 24, combined to go 6-6 with a 3.25 ERA (133.0IP, 126H, 58R/48ER, 34BB, 142K) in 23 starts with Single-A Tampa, Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2017. The Dominican Republic native spent a majority of the season at Trenton, going 5-1 with a 2.38 ERA (79.1IP, 21ER) in 14 starts. The 6-foot-7 right-hander finished second among Yankees minor leaguers in strikeouts and was seventh in ERA, and pitched in the 2017 MLB All-Star Futures Game in Miami in July. Following the season, Acevedo was named the No. 10 prospect in the Yankees by Baseball America and was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2017.

Each player was presented with a trophy designed by C&C Awards, as well as a designer watch, courtesy of Betteridge Jewelers.
