MOOSIC, PA (June 18, 2022) –The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders shut out the Rochester Red Wings 3-0 on Saturday evening. Matt Krook pitched seven shutout innings in the longest outing by any RailRiders’ pitcher this season.

The RailRiders broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Jake Bauers against Red Wings’ starter Carson Teel. Tim Locastro had a one-out double and came home on the run-scoring hit by Bauers. Teel allowed one run over four innings with seven strikeouts in his second start of the season.

Meanwhile, RailRiders starter Matt Krook pitched seven shutout innings with five strikeouts. It tied the longest outing of Krook’s career and was the first time a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starting pitcher has gone at least seven frames this year.

SWB added two insurance runs in the ninth. Ronald Guzmán doubled to lead off the inning, then stole his first base of the season and came home on a wild pitch. Estevan Florial extended his team-high hitting streak to 11 games with a single later in the frame, swiped his club-leading 22nd bag of the campaign and also scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

Jimmy Cordero and Greg Weissert finished off the shutout with two scoreless innings out of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bullpen. Krook (2-6) earned his second win for the RailRiders. Weissert (6) logged his sixth save. Teel (2-1) suffered the loss for Rochester.

The two teams conclude their six-game series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 1:05 PM. It’s Sunday Family FunDay.
