Springfield, MO - Hot off winning the 2025 Texas League Championship, the Springfield Cardinals want to bring music to Hammons Field in 2026. The team has partnered with the Gillioz Center for Arts & Entertainment with the intent of bringing concerts to the ball field starting as early as Spring 2026.
The Gillioz Center For Arts & Entertainment is a 501c-3 non-profit that owns the Historic Gillioz Theatre located at 325 Park Central East. The property has tenants beyond the theatre venue that includes Dublin’s Pass, the Southwest Missouri Film Office,Two Black Ravens Foundation, Mosaic Arts Collective, Ozark Lyric Opera, Missouri Jazz Orchestra, and SATO48.
The Springfield Cardinals are the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and have called Hammons Field home since 2005. One of the most successful teams in the Minor League system, the Cardinals have nearly 600 alumni that have ascended to Major League Baseball. The commitment to Springfield was renewed when the city acquired Hammons Field in 2023. The field is home to special events in addition to baseball programming. This agreement marks a commitment to develop a series of community enhancement opportunities in the nearly 8,000 capacity venue.
“Since the City of Springfield purchased the stadium our intent has been to serve the community as an outdoor concert venue a few times each year,“ said Dan Reiter, General Manager of the Springfield Cardinals. “The Hatch Foundation initiated step one by purchasing field decking for future shows. Now we are ready for the next step to achieve that goal and believe this strategic partnership with Gillioz will help us get there. To partner with Geoff Steele and his team at Gillioz is a great example of a Win-Win-Win scenario for both of our organization and the community at large.”
Geoff Steele is Executive Director of the Gillioz Center for Arts & Entertainment. “This partnership with the Springfield Cardinals is a significant step in further defining Springfield, Missouri as a hub for art and entertainment in the national touring industry. Showcasing this venue and our hospitality culture not only makes for great experiences for residents, it means consistent economic growth as we attract visitors for these activities. We’re exporting Springfield in very intentional and intelligent ways.”
Gillioz recently announced a venue management agreement for the historic Fox Theatre in collaboration with The History Museum on the Square, which owns the Fox.
Unlike the Fox partnership, all ticketing and promotion for Hammons Field events will remain with the Cardinals team. Gillioz will focus on negotiating and securing artists and fulfilling production related areas. Announcements on dates and programming will come at later dates, and will work around schedules already in place at Hammons Field.
