Late blast costs Hens in 3-1 loss to Bats
Despite a brilliant outing from starter Casey Crosby, the Mud Hens surrendered a pair of late runs that proved to be to much to over come. Cody Puckett sent a two-run blast over the left field wall in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to the eventual final of 3-1.
Crosby pitched a tremendous eight innings, striking out five and allowing just three hits. The young lefty gave up just one earned run, a homer in the top of the fourth from Didi Gregorius.
Out dueling Crosby for Louisville was Chad Reineke. The 6'6 right hander pitched a two hit gem in 7.1 innings with nine strikeouts.
The Hens eventually landed on the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth off a sac fly from Argenis Diaz. The rally was put to an end by J.J. Hoover.
Toledo and Louisville will battle again on Monday night, first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
