The Wilmington Blue Rocks saw their five game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night as they fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades 9-3 in game two of their six game series.

Southpaw Jake Bennett got the start for the Rocks tonight. After a quick and quiet first inning, Bennett ran into some trouble in the second.

A two-out single by Ben Cowles got a two-out rally going for the Renegades that included RBI singles from Cole Gabrielson and Rafael Flores to make it 2-0 early.

The Rocks would respond in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double for Matt Suggs to make it 2-1.

In the third, the Renegades would pile it on. A leadoff single for Jared Serna would spark a five-run inning for the Renegades that was capped off with a solo home run for Gabrielson.

That inning would spell the end for Bennett, he would go 2.2 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with no walks and no strikeouts.

The Rocks would add a couple in the bottom half of the third with a bases loaded fielder’s choice for Murphy Stehly and an RBI sacrifice fly for Jared McKenzie to make it 7-3.

In the fourth, the Renegades would get those couple runs right back. A leadoff walk for Anthony Hall seemed harmless until Jesus Rodriguez stepped up and hit a two-run home run to right center field to make it 9-3 and put the game on ice.

The Rocks would muster up base runners throughout the game but would be unable to get them home and would go down for the first time in a week.

The loss ties the six game series at one apiece. The two teams will be back at it tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 6:35.
