WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 17, 2022) — Nine innings of one-run pitching from Bowling Green got the best of the Dash bats Friday night as the Hot Rods took a game four win over Winston-Salem, 4-1.

After both offenses were shut down for the first two innings, Bowling Green got to the Dash starter Chase Solesky. Diego Infante started the inning off with a walk then two batters later, Logan Driscoll lined a ball into left field that would allow Infante to reach third with Dru Baker driving Infante in on the next pitch.

Oscar Colas would answer in the top of the fourth with a lead-off home run to tie the score at one, but that’d be the last run Winston-Salem could muster up for the rest of the game. Bowling Green starter Logan Workman would pitch five innings, allowing just the run and five hits while striking out five batters. Graeme Stinson and Kyle Whitten would both pitch two innings, combining for four innings of perfect pitching, not allowing a hit or walk, and striking out five batters as a duo.

The Hot Rods offense wasn’t done for the night though. In the bottom of the fourth, Osleivis Basabeand Kyle Manzardo strung together singles in succession. Alexander Ovalles would score Basabe after grounding into a double play. Then in the sixth inning, Bowling Green would score on Solesky’s replacement, Everhett Hazelwood. Baker would walk to start the frame but would proceed to steal second, before taking third on a throwing error. This set up him scoring on a groundout by Basabe to bring the Bowling Green lead to 3-1. Baker would close out his night and the Hot Rods night with a solo home run into right-center field, making the score 4-1. With the win by Bowling Green, the series is now tied at two games apiece heading into game five on Saturday night.
