RENO, Nev.-The Reno Aces fell 16-8 to the Sacramento River Cats in front of a sell-out crowd on Friday night, marking the first home opener the Aces have lost in franchise history.

Cody Ross, who joined the Aces tonight as part of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.

Both squads put up two runs in the first frame, before the River Cats broke away with the lead. A three-run third inning, a six-run fourth and a five run fifth boosted Sacramento to a 16-4 lead in the top of the fourth. Fueled by homers from Grant Green, Michael Taylor and Stephen Vogt, Sacramento's momentum stopped there.

Aces relievers Eury De La Rosa and Will Harris did not give up a hit through the last four innings of the game, and struck out a pair of batters each.

RHP Charles Brewer was charged with the loss for the Aces in his second start of the season. Brewer gave up seven runs-six earned-on six hits through 3.1 innings pitched.

Reliever Travis Banwart was credited with his first win of the season for Sacramento. Banwart gave up two earned runs on four hits through 2.1 innings pitched.

The series continues Saturday night at Aces Ballpark. D-backs No. 1 prospect Tyler Skaggs (1-0, 0.00 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the River Cats will counter with RHP Sonny Gray (0-0, 0.00 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT.
