Kody Reynolds Takes High-School Derby Crown

July 3, 2013

For Immediate Release
July 3, 2013

RENO, Nev.- Kody Reynolds of McQueen High School edged Chase Hauder of Spanish Springs in the final round of the 2013 High School Home Run Derby, with a home run in the second round. Reynolds will now compete with members of the 2013 IGT Triple-A Home Run Derby, to be held at Aces Ballpark on July 15 as part of the Triple-A All-Star festivities.

Both Hauder and Reynolds failed to record a home run after the first round, and each hitter then earned five additional swings in a second round "swing-off." After Hauder was shutout again in the extra round, Reynolds clubbed a home run over the Aces scoreboard to secure the derby victory.

Reynolds and six of the top sluggers in Minor League Baseball will compete against one another on Monday, July 15 at Aces Ballpark. The Home Run Derby contestants will swing for the fences beginning at 7:05 p.m.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. to accommodate large crowds, and the entertainment will begin at 6:00 p.m. with mutton bustin', brought to you by the Reno Rodeo.
