RENO, Nev.-Major League veteran Phil Nevin will take over as manager for the Reno Aces in the 2014 season, the club announced in a press conference this afternoon.

Nevin spent the last three seasons as manager the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens of the International League. He guided Toledo to an overall 188-244 record in that span, and is 291-359 overall in his five-year managerial career.

A former College Player of the Year and Golden Spikes Award winner, Nevin was the first overall pick in the 1992 draft by the Houston Astros.

Fans can come to the ballpark at 6:30 tonight for a meet and greet with Nevin, which will be held in Bugsy's at the Freight House District. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Former manager Brett Butler, who led the team through the first five seasons of the club's existence, recently accepted a coaching position with the Miami Marlins, opening the head spot in Reno.
