Reno, Nev. - The Sacramento River Cats pounded out eight runs in a winning effort on Memorial Day from Greater Nevada Field. Sacramento sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the second inning, scoring five runs against Aces left-hander Erik Jokisch. Austin Slater led the way for the River Cats offense, finishing 3-for-6 with two RBI on the day. Jokisch got the nod for Greg Gross this afternoon. The southpaw threw five innings, allowing six earned runs on 12 hits. In the first inning, Chris Shaw got the inning going with a leadoff home run to left field. After a Juan Ciriaco walk, five Sacramento hits would translate to four additional runs to put the Aces in a 5-0 hole. Again, the 'Cats got into the scoring column in the top of the third to bring the score to 7-0.

Reno's offense came alive in the bottom half of the third inning. Sócrates Brito got the party started with a one-out triple. Oswaldo Arcia followed with his 11th home run of the year. The two-run shot gave Arcia 51 RBI this season - just one shy of the PCL leader Christian Walker. Walker immediately responded with a solo blast of his own for homer number 15 of the season.

Sacramento would tack on four more in the eighth and ninth inning off Keyvius Sampson to ensure the victory. The loss brings Reno to a record of 32-20 on the year. The Aces and 'Cats will finish their series tomorrow evening at Greater Nevada Field with the first pitch slated for 6:05 PM. Season memberships are on-sale now at www.renoaces.com or by calling (775) 334-4700.
