Carpenter Leads Isotopes over Aces

After yet another strong performance from starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter, the Isotopes (64-70) defeated the Reno Aces (77-58), 6-2, at Isotopes Park on Tuesday. 

Carpenter allowed two runs in the first inning and shut down the potent Aces offense for the next six frames. The left-hander struck out 10 batters on the night and is now 11 away from matching the Isotopes single-season record of 165 set by John Ely in 2012.
With his performance on Monday, Carpenter has now allowed three runs or less in 14 of his last 15 outings.
Isotopes relievers Zac Rosscup pitched a scoreless eighth inning while Carlos Estévez struck out the side in the ninth inning, securing the victory for Albuquerque.
Offensively for Albuquerque, the Isotopes scored six runs on 14 hits. Five of the eight position player starters recorded multi-hit games while Mike Tauchman and Tom Murphy each collected three hits on the night.
Noel Cuevas recorded the Isotopes Minor League Baseball-leading 73^rd triple in the 5^th inning. It was Albuquerque's first triple since Aug. 12 vs. Fresno. The Isotopes had gone 14 games without registering a three-base hit.
The Isotopes and Aces continue their four-game set from Isotopes Park on Tuesday when right-hander Jeff Hoffman (3-3, 4.84) takes the hill for Albuquerque. First pitch from Isotopes Park is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
