Isotopes Dialed in on Better Call Saul Night

August 7, 2016

The Isotopes were dialed in on "Better Call Saul" Night, defeating the Sacramento River Cats 9-2 at Isotopes Park.

Sacramento and Albuquerque traded runs to start the game with the score tied 2-2 after four innings. Brandon Barnes's RBI triple in the third inning and Tim Smalling's RBI single in the fourth accounted for the Isotopes first two runs.

After "Better Call Saul" star Bob Odenkirk sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch, the Isotopes answered the call by scoring three runs to take a 5-2 lead. Barnes put Albuquerque ahead with an RBI single before Jordan Patterson launched a two-run home run to right. Patterson's home run was his ninth of the season.

The Isotopes added four more runs in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach at 9-2. Mike Tauchman recorded his career-high 43rd RBI of the season, scoring Smalling with a single to center. Barnes brought home two runs with a double off the left field wall before the rehabbing Gerardo Parra drove in the final run of the frame with a single up the middle.

Barnes finished the night 3-for-5 with four RBI and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Patterson also logged three hits and needed a triple to complete a cycle.

The Isotopes begin a four-game series against the Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A Mets) tomorrow night at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque will send Jeff Hoffman (5-9, 4.35) to the bump, while Gabriel Ynoa (10-4, 4.42) is slated to pitch for Las Vegas. The game is scheduled to get underway at 6:05 p.m.
