The Albuquerque Isotopes today announced pitcher Dave Stewart, infielder Ron Cey and the creator of the Albuquerque Dukes logo RichardDick” Moots will be inducted into the Albuquerque Professional Baseball Hall of Fame Saturday, July 23 in an on-field pre-game ceremony at Isotopes Park as part of Dukes Retro Night.

First pitch is set for 6:35 pm while gates open at 5:30 pm.

Stewart played for the Dukes in 1977 and 1979-80 and won 27 games over two-plus seasons while in Albuquerque—third-most in Dukes single season history—including a Pacific Coast League-leading 15 triumphs in 1980. He compiled a 27-22 ledger and 4.40 ERA with the Dukes while spinning 16 complete games with 230 strikeouts in 60 games (56 starts). His 202 innings pitched in 1980 were the second-highest single season in franchise history, as he led the Dukes to the PCL championship that season. Stewart spent 16 illustrious years in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers, Rangers, Phillies, Athletics and Blue Jays. He won 168 career games and is a three-time World Series champion (LAD — 1981, OAK — 1989, TOR — 1993). He was named 1989 World Series MVP and took home ALCS MVP honors twice (1990, 1993).

Cey played for both the Albuquerque Dodgers (1969-70) and Dukes (1972), becoming one of the most productive players to play in Albuquerque. He led the 1970 Dodgers with 22 doubles and ranked first on the historic 1972 Dukes squad in games played (142), hits (163) home runs (23), RBI (103) and walks (117). His .331 average in 1970 and .329 average in 1972 both rank second on each club. Cey played 16 prolific years in the Majors Leagues with the Dodgers, Cubs and A’s, swatting 316 homers and 1,139 RBI in 2,073 games. A six-time National League All-Star, Cey was named co-MVP of the 1981 World Series when the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in six games.

Moots created the iconic Dukes logo in 1972, which became synonymous with one of the most successful Triple-A franchises in Minor League Baseball history. The logo of the friendly conquistador remains an important part of Albuquerque culture and has been a symbol for the Duke City itself for generations. Moots also designed the Dukes mascot, uniform lettering and programs, as well as the first official logo for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

Following the game, there will be a Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Eastern New Mexico University and the City of Portales, weather permitting. Fans can purchase individual tickets to all remaining Isotopes home games here. Information on group outings can be found here.
