CURVE, Pa. – Matt Fraizer drove in three runs, however, Altoona’s three-game win streak came to an end with a 9-6 defeat to the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Fraizer smacked a solo home run in the first inning and tied the game in the fifth with a two-run double to lead a ten-hit attack for Altoona. Andres Alvarez added two hits in the defeat, his fifth multi-hit game of the season.

Hartford held a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning, working against opener Tahnaj Thomas, before the Curve tied the game on Fraizer’s third homer of the year and took the lead on an RBI-single from Drew Maggi in the second.

That 2-1 lead would stick for Altoona until a three-run home run from Hunter Goodman off Justin Meis made it a 4-2 Hartford lead in the fifth. Meis followed the opener and allowed three runs on six hits in 4.0 innings in the no-decision.

Following Fraizer’s double to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth, Matt Gorski hit an RBI-single to give the Curve a 5-4 lead. Dylan Shockley added an RBI-single in the sixth to score Altoona’s sixth run.

The bulk of the scoring for the Yard Goats came in the top of the sixth inning off reliever Matt Eckelman. After retiring the first batter, Eckelman loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a base hit. He then hit Bladimir Restituyo with a pitch to bring a run across before Grant Lavigne knocked a ground-rule double to right field to plate two. Goodman added an RBI-single before Eckelman was pulled from the contest after recording one out.

Cameron Junker followed in relief and tossed 2.2 scoreless, hitless frames with three strikeouts. It extends a scoreless inning streak for Junker up to 12.1 innings in the month of May. Juan Minaya tossed a scoreless ninth inning.

Shockley threw out two more runners behind the plate in the loss, bringing his season total to 12 batters caught stealing. He is tied for first in the Eastern League and tied for fourth in all of Double-A in the category despite only catching in 18 games this season. Connor Scott picked up an outfield assist in the loss.

The Curve continue their series with the Hartford Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, on Saturday night with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch. RHP Jared Jones will open for the Curve and is opposed by RHP Andrew Quezada for Hartford.
