CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will host Pitt vs. Penn State Night, presented by Stuckey Subaru, at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday, August 24, and the night will feature appearances by former Pitt quarterback Tyler Palko and former Penn State quarterback Zack Mills

The Curve will celebrate this September's college football match-up between the Pitt Panthers and Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium with a night themed around the historic gridiron battles between the two programs over the last 124 years and the pride of the two fan bases across the region.
The two quarterbacks will be in attendance as the Curve face the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and will participate in a Meet & Greet session with fans during the game.
"This is the first time in a long time that Pitt and Penn State will face off in Beaver Stadium," Curve general manager Derek Martin said. "We thought it would be fun to bring two veteran quarterbacks to PNG Field to toss around the pigskin. Maybe Palko and Mills will toss a football in from center field for the ceremonial first pitch."
Palko played for the Pitt Panthers from 2002-06 and sits second on the program's all-time list with 66 touchdown passes and fourth with 8,343 passing yards. He was named Second-Team All-Big East in 2004 and 2005. Palko played five seasons in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs.
Mills was a four-year starter at quarterback for Penn State from 2001-04, picking up an All-Big Ten selection in 2002, and he was a three-time Davey O'Brien Award finalist. Mills finished his career at Penn State as the program's all-time leader in passing yards with 7,212 and tied for first all-time in touchdown passes with 41.
Anyone with a current, valid student I.D. for the University of Pittsburgh or Penn State will be able to purchase $1 grandstand tickets for the game. Any fans who come to the ballpark dressed in Pitt or Penn State colors will be able to take advantage of a buy-one, get-one-free special on tickets.
"It's a great day for Pitt and Penn State fans to gather at PNG Field," Martin said. "We are going to try and create an energetic atmosphere with representation from both schools. It will really feel like a college football game day with the great Thirstday specials, thanks to our friends at Q94 and Furrer Beverage."
The August 24 game is also Thirstday at PNG Field, presented by Q94, featuring $2 specials on 16 oz. Bud Light draft beers and regular-size sodas, plus $1 hot dogs. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and the gates will open at 5 p.m.
