BOWIE, Md. - A five-run seventh inning for the Bowie Baysox included two homers off Altoona Curve reliever Yeudy Garcia and the Baysox came from behind to defeat the visiting Curve, 8-5, on Tuesday at Prince George's Stadium.
After the Curve (21-19) led 3-1, the Baysox (20-23) broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh with five runs, all with two outs, against Garcia. Corban Joseph clubbed a go-ahead, three-run homer to right followed two batters later with a two-run shot by Ryan Mountcastle.
Taylor Hearn logged 5.1 innings in the start for the Curve with three runs, two earned, charged to his line next to six strikeouts, two walks and three hits allowed. After an unearned run scored in the second and followed by his first walk of the night, Hearn retired ten consecutive Bowie batters that included a string of five straight strikeouts.
Hearn was lifted with one out in the sixth with Altoona leading but Bowie had the bases loaded. Mountcastle hit a game-tying, two-run single to greet Garcia to the ballgame.
Logan Hill hit his team-high seventh homer of the season, a three-run shot, during the fourth to put the Curve on the board. Hill has homered in back-to-back games with 14 RBIs over his last 11 games.
Jason Martin ended Tuesday's action without a base hit, going 0-for-3, to end his 11-game hitting streak. However, he did work a walk to increase his on-base streak to 13 games, the longest consecutive on-base streak by a Curve player this season.
The Curve and Baysox continue their series three-game series on Wednesday night. Starting for Altoona will be right-hander Pedro Vasquez (0-0, 4.91) and left-hander Jayson Aquino (1-2, 7.50) will go for Bowie.
