Double Trouble For GreenJackets

Rome Takes Both in Doubleheader

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost both of the doubleheader to the Rome Braves on Tuesday afternoon. The Braves won game one 6-4 and then took game two 5-1.

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost both of the doubleheader to the Rome Braves on Tuesday afternoon. The Braves won game one 6-4 and then took game two 5-1.

In game one, the lead went back and forth throughout the ballgame. The GreenJackets would take a 3-2 lead after Ismael Munguia hit a two-run triple into the right field corner. Munguia in his Augusta debut would go 2-3 with three RBIs. Rome would come back with four runs over the final couple innings to pull off the victory, 6-4.
In game two, it was close throughout as Jose Marte for Augusta and Hayden Deal for Rome were locked in over the first couple of innings. In the fourth inning with the game scoreless, Jacob Gonzalez would triple into the right field corner. Ryan Kirby would then knock him home with a single into right field to give the GreenJackets a 1-0 lead. This would not last as Rome put up five runs over the next two innings to take game two, 5-1.
The GreenJackets will now go on the road for eight games. Starting Thursday the GreenJackets will head to Columbia for a four game series with the Fireflies. Then go to Charleston for a four game series with the RiverDogs.
