Bats win wild one, 6-5

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville salvaged the final game of the four-game series with Scranton on the back of another tremendous start for Chein-Ming Wang as they won 6-5 on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Wang (5-4, 3.91) pitched six and two-thirds innings, allowed three runs on four hits, walked a batter and struck out one. Coming into the game, Wang had thrown 10 straight scoreless innings. He improved on that by throwing six and two-thirds scoreless innings until Zelous Wheeler drove a two-RBI double into the right field corner. Wang's sixteen and two-thirds consecutive scoreless innings is the longest for a Bats pitcher this season.

In a month in which the Bats offense has exploded to hit .269 as a team, Felix Perez continues to lead the way. He once again led the offense to a win as he reached base four times, including his sixth home run of the season. He also scored three of the five runs for the Bats.

Second baseman Ruben Gotay saw his 21-game home hitting streak come to an end, as he was 0-for-5. He also lost his team high seven-game hitting streak on Thursday night.

Scranton handed the ball to Triple-A rookie Zach Nuding (2-3, 6.23) as they looked for the sweep. Nuding pitched five innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits while walking a pair and striking out one.

Nuding put his RailRiders in a hole they couldn't escape after allowing three runs in the first. Most of the damage came on Perez' sixth home run of the season three batters into the bottom of the first.

Right-hander Chad Rogers took the mound for the ninth and finished out the game for his first Triple-A save.

Louisville will take I-71 up to Columbus for the first of three games in two days starting on Friday at 7:15 p.m. Right-hander Mat Latos (0-0, 4.50) will make his second consecutive rehab start for Louisville against right-hander Danny Salazar (0-2, 7.88).
