LAKEWOOD, NJ (July 31, 2021) – Francisco Alvarez blasted a pair of home runs, but the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, dropped a 4-3 decision to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park.

• Down 4-0 late in the game, Francisco Alvarez’s solo home run in the seventh made it 4-1 and his two-run home run to dead center field in the eighth made it 4-3.
• Jersey Shore’s Victor Vargas struck out six over six scoreless innings to earn the victory in his High-A debut. The 20 year old scattered three hits and four walks.
• The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Logan O’Hoppe’s solo home run against Brooklyn starter Alec Kisena. Kisena allowed three more runs in the fifth, yielding all four of the runs in 4 1/3 innings.
