GREENVILLE, SC (May 12, 2021) – Antoine Duplantis drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth, the bullpen held tough, and the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, won their third straight game with a 3-2 Wednesday night at Fluor Field against the Greenville Drive.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Antoine Duplantis broke a 2-2 tie, ripping an RBI double to right field that scored Blake Tiberi in the top of the sixth to give Brooklyn the lead. Duplantis also tied the game 1-1 with a run-scoring single in the fifth.
  • Brian Metoyer, Bryce Montes de Oca, and Mitch Ragan tossed five innings in relief, allowing one unearned run with two scattered hits. Metoyer earned the first victory by a reliever this season after the starters received decisions over the first six games of the season. Ragan earned the save.
  • Ronny Mauricio plated Duplantis in the fifth to give Brooklyn a 2-1 lead against Greenville’s Jake Thompson.
  • Drive third baseman Brandon Howlett drove in the in the opening run of the game against Brooklyn starter Jose Butto with an RBI double in the first inning.

NEWS AND NOTES

  • After no stolen base attempts over the first six games of the season, the Cyclones ran wild. Brooklyn stole three bases in three attempts.
  • The Cyclones won their third consecutive game but did not hit a home run for the first time this season, snapping a streak of six straight games with a long ball to start the season.
  • Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to six games. Over the span, the shortstop is hitting 9-29 (.310).
