LAKEWOOD, NJ (June 1, 2021) –Behind four monster home runs and a stout pitching performance from Jose Butto, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 11-5 Tuesday night in the series opener from FirstEnergy Park.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Brett Baty went 3-4 and drove in three runs, including his first home run with Brooklyn when his solo shot in the first inning made it 1-0. Baty added another RBI double in the eighth to push the lead to 8-4.
  • Joe Genord, Adrian Hernandez, and Francisco Alvarez each homered in separate innings. Genord’s team-leading fifth home run came as a two-run shot in the second inning to make it 3-0. Alvarez’s first Cyclones long ball was launched on a line drive over the center field wall in the eighth, and Hernandez teed off on his first in the ninth to make it 11-5.
  • Cyclones starter Jose Butto went a season-long 5 1/3 innings and won his first victory of the season with the Cyclones. Butto fanned five, surrendering three runs on three hits and a walk.
