Jays promote Walden, Francisco joins Herd

Bisons place Nanita on disabled list, Stilson temporarily inactive
April 5, 2014

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have purchased the contract of Buffalo Bisons RHP MARCUS WALDEN. The Bisons announced that recently-signed INF JUAN FRANCISCO has been activated by the team.

The Bisons also announced that OF RICARDO NANITA has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to April 3, and RHP JOHN STILSON has been placed on the temporary inactive list, retroactive to April 4.

WALDEN has made one appearance with the Bisons this season pitching a scoreless inning in Thursday's Opening Day win over Rochester. Last season, the righty made 26 starts for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Eastern League (AA), posting a 6-14 record with a 3.71 ERA. He led all Eastern League pitchers with 162.1 innings pitched.

FRANCISCO split the 2013 season between the Atlanta Braves (35 games) and the Milwaukee Brewers (89) games. In the two stops combined, he averaged .227 (79-348) with 12 doubles, 18 home runs and 48 RBI. He began the year in Atlanta but was traded to Milwaukee on June 3 for pitcher Tom Keeling.

STILSON also pitched in the Bisons Opening Day victory on Thursday, allowing a run on a hit in 0.2 innings of work. NANITA has not appeared in a game for the Bisons this season.
