2024 Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship Now Open

Cedar Rapids, IA – The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Kernels Foundation are pleased to announce the 2024 Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship Application is now open.

Nick's family and the Kernels Foundation would like to honor him by awarding two $1000 scholarships in his memory. The Kernels Foundation is privileged to administer the scholarship on behalf of Nick's family.

Nick Adenhart was a bright young pitcher who played for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in 2006, and he was a rising star in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization. Only hours after Nick's 2009 season debut on the mound for the Angels, Nick was tragically killed by a drunk driver on April 9, 2009 at age 22.

Applicants must be a graduating high school senior from an area public or private high school who will be attending a two-year or four-year accredited college or university. They must also be taking 12 or more credit hours per semester. The applicants must have played an organized sport in the last two years AND be a great teammate. The applicant should have a clear visit of career goals. The applicant must demonstrate hard work and determination.

The Kernels Opening Night for 2024 is Tuesday, April 9th at 6:35 PM vs. Dayton. Single-game tickets go on sale on Monday, March 18th. We still have season ticket packages available and our full promotional schedule with theme nights and daily specials will be released in late February.
