Cedar Rapids, IA – The Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame Class for 2022 has been selected and will be recognized with a special pre-game ceremony prior to the Tuesday, September 6th game against the South Bend Cubs.

Ronald “Roady” Plein | Roady was the long time Equipment Manager who came to the Kernels in 1993. He retired in 2016. Roady, was well known for chasing foul balls down the line and thus earning the name “Road Runner”. His long days of cleaning the clubhouse in the morning, taking care of the team all day and then laundry until 3 am were the backbone to his many seasons with the Kernels. He is still popular with many big leaguers as he would help in the kitchen and served the players meals, among other things, for years at the Los Angeles Angels Spring training facility. Roady still lives in Cedar Rapids and attends many games.

James (Jim) T. Brems | Brems, CPA, Partner founded the Certified Public Accounting firm of James T. Brems, P.C. in November 1994 after twenty years of employment in public accounting firms, the latest of which was Ernst & Young. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also past president of the Cedar Rapids Tax Group and the Cedar Rapids Area Estate Planning Council. Jim has had a supporting role with the Cedar Rapids Ball Club for many years. He was the Accountant, Auditor and financial backbone of the organization for many teams and Board presidents. Jim was able to help the club through many tough financial years at the old ballpark to building a new stadium in 2002. Jim’s firm continues to serve as the ball clubs auditors and tax preparer. Jim’s support through the years is one of the many reasons the Kernels are here today.

Each year the Hall of Fame Committee votes on past players, managers, front office, and community partners to nominate inductees for the next Hall of Fame Class. The nominees for the year are chosen from the 125+ year history of baseball in Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame is proud to honor those who have impacted the game both on and off the field.

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field for the final six-game series of the regular season against the South Bend Cubs, September 6-11.
