McCutchen MVP Figurine, Cole Garden Gnome & Alvarez Bobble Highlight 2014 Giveaways
CURVE, Pa. - A pair of items saluting the reigning National League MVP, the Curve's first garden gnome, a bobblehead commemorating the 2013 National League Home Run leader, an oven mitt with a baseball tie, and a fish tank ornament can all be found on the 2014 Altoona Curve Giveaways calendar. In all, the team will give away 11 premium items this season with nine of the 11 centered on former Curve players turned Pirates stars plus one mascot-related giveaway.
A complete listing of the 2014 Giveaways is below. All giveaways for the 2014 season are to the first 1,500 fans (all ages) except for the 2014 Magnet Schedule Giveaway, which will be handed out to the first 5,000 fans on Opening Night.

A star with the Curve in 2012 during his trek to Pittsburgh, Gerrit Cole will grace the first-ever garden gnome given away in team history. With the beard he grew in the big leagues last season, he was a natural choice.
June 1 | Starling Marte Oven Mitt Giveaway
First 1,500 fans (all ages)
Injuries are a part of every sport and former Curve CF (now Pirates LF) Starling Marte battled through a hand injury in 2013 with the help of an oven-mitt style cast/pad during the Pirates' playoff run. The Curve wanted to say thanks to the cast for helping Marte heal up (and play a vital role in helping the Pirates to their first playoff appearance since 1992) with a giveaway.
June 13 | Andrew McCutchen Retro Jersey T-Shirt Giveaway presented by Ravine Ink & Thread
First 1,500 fans (all ages)
The first of back-to-back giveaways celebrating the reigning NL MVP and former Curve star Andrew McCutchen ('06 and '07), this giveaway will be a t-shirt that looks like the 2006/07 Curve uniforms with McCutchen's name and #10 gracing the back.
June 14 | Andrew McCutchen MVP Figurine presented by UniFirst

A unique twist on a figurine, this item will feature former Curve OF Andrew McCutchen in his Curve uniform on one side while he dons a suit on the other half with his 2013 N.L. MVP award.
June 27 | Jameson Taillon Tuxedo T-Shirt
First 1,500 fans (all ages)
A play on the last name of 2012 & 2013 Curve righty Jameson Taillon, this t-shirt will look like tuxedo and feature Taillon's cartoon caricature in the bowtie on top. Casual, but always ready for a fancy party.
June 28 | Al-in-the-Wall Giveaway presented by Super 8 Altoona
First 1,500 fans (all ages)
All Curve fans know about Al Tuna and his antics when he bursts through the wall after the Curve score a run. This giveaway embodies Al's efforts in Jack-in-the-Box form. Think of a Jack-in-the-Box turned on its side that looks like an outfield wall, push a button, and out will pop Al Tuna.
July 5 | Pedro Alvarez Bobblehead presented by Nuts for You

After just missing out in our 15th season Bobblehead collection last season, Pedro Alvarez will make his first appearance on a Curve bobblehead in 2014.
July 19 | Neil Walker Cartoon T-Shirt
First 1,500 fans (all ages)
A second baseman in 2006 and 2007 with the Curve, Neil Walker will take cartoon form for our third t-shirt giveaway of the season.
August 2 | Gerrit Cole T-Shirt

Fast fashion might be a way to describe this t-shirt which will depict a fictional company that fireballer Gerrit Cole could own on the side after blowing up radar guns during his career.
August 23 | "Shark Tank" Fish Tank Ornament presented by Capital Contractors

The Pirates' "Shark Tank" bullpen was superb in 2013 and more than a few former Curve hurlers were a part of one of the best bullpens in all of baseball. We wanted to pay tribute to their accomplishments with a giveaway and we came up with a fish tank ornament that will depict former Curve members Jared Hughes, Bryan Morris, Tony Watson and Justin Wilson riding a shark that can be placed in your fish tank.
"It's an All-Star season in Curve, PA," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "So, it was a natural to theme our giveaway schedule around former Curve players who are now stars for the Pirates. Our staff has done a remarkable job of coming up with ways to salute them in a fun way. We think our fans are really going to enjoy these items."
This release is the first of three this week that will release the entire 2014 Curve Promotional Calendar. The schedule for the rest of the week will be as follows:

Individual game tickets for the 2014 season will go on sale to the general public in-person only this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Baseball Bash at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The first 250 individual game ticket purchasers at Bash will receive a free gift of Curve earmuffs thanks to Ravine Ink & Thread. A free suite rental for a night (regular-season games only excluding July 4) is also up for grabs at Baseball Bash to one lucky fan who completes the Ballpark Scavenger Hunt. Online sales of single-game tickets will follow on Monday, March 3 at 9 a.m.
