SALISBURY, MD - The FredNats lost a third one-run game of the series on Friday night at Delmarva, 2-1 in 10 innings.
The game started an hour and 40 minutes late after some wicked thunderstorms passed through the area, and the storms kept both teams offenses at bay for most of the night. The Shorebirds scored the game's first run in the 6th inning on Yasmil Bucce's RBI single with two outs against FredNat starter Yoel Tejeda Jr.
Tejeda overall had his best night of the season, pitching six innings for the first time in his professional career, allowing just the one run on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
The game stayed 1-0 until the top of the 8th when Moises Gallardo drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Then, with two outs and two strikes, Jackson Ross delivered again in the late innings, rifling a single to center to score Gallardo and tie the game.
The FredNats weren't able to score in their half of the 10th, and with two outs and a man at third, Shorebird catcher Colin Tuft grounded a single through the middle to win the game.
The FredNats managed just four hits, two for Kevin Bazzell, one for Carlos Tavares and Ross's RBI single. Robert Cranz pitched a perfect 7th inning with two strikeouts, and Merrick Baldo posted two zeros in the 8th and 9th innings. Adam Bloebaum (0-1) got the tough luck loss, allowing the unearned run in the 10th.
Fredericksburg (16-20) needs two wins on the weekend to split the series. They send LHP Angel Roman to the mound tomorrow for a 7:05 pm first pitch as the series continues.
