FRISCO, Texas (August 11, 2022) – Behind a strong start from Frisco righty Jack Leiter, the RoughRiders dropped their Thursday night matchup to the San Antonio Missions, 5-3. Leiter departed with a 3-2 lead in the top of the 6th with seven strikeouts, his most since eight against Wichita on May 31st.

Leiter finished with two earned runs in 5.2 innings. After giving up two runs on one hit in the top of the 1st inning, Leiter buckled down to hold the Missions scoreless from the 2nd through the 6th inning on two hits.

San Antonio scored a pair of runs in the top of the 1st inning off the right-hander Leiter on a two-run single for Missions third baseman Juan Fernandez to take a 2-0 lead.

The Riders answered in the bottom of the 1st with run-scoring hits from second baseman Justin Foscue and left fielder Kellen Strahm on Missions starter Brandon Komar. Frisco drove three runs across in the bottom of the 1st to eliminate the deficit and take a 3-2 lead.

Leiter departed with a two-out walk in the top of the 6th inning for lefty Josh Smith to record the final out. San Antonio rallied with two runs in the top of the 7th, powered by a run-scoring double from Yorman Rodriguez off Riders reliever Justin Slaten. The Missions scored two more in the top of the 8th on no hits to extend their lead to 5-3 over Frisco.

RoughRiders right-hander Marc Church dealt with the Missions in the top of the 9th with a pair of strikeouts to hold Thursday’s deficit at a pair of runs entering the 9th.

The RoughRiders and Missions continue their series Friday night at Riders Field at 7:05 p.m. Riders LHP Cody Bradford (7-6, 6.10 ERA) makes his 21st start of the year against San Antonio LHP Noel Vela (6-7, 3.83 ERA).
