CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (July 27, 2021) – The Frisco RoughRiders were downed in walk-off fashion 6-5 by the Corpus Christi Hooks on Tuesday from Whataburger Field.

The RoughRiders (44-29) started off the scoring in the first inning when Josh Jung smacked a two-run blast, his eighth of the season, to stake the Riders to a 2-0 advantage.

The Hooks (33-40) then came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the second inning on a Scott Schreiber RBI double and a Grae Kessinger RBI single.

A David Hensley sacrifice fly put Corpus Christi out in front 3-2 in the fourth.

Frisco then stormed right back, taking a lead 4-3 on Anderson Tejeda's two-run single in the top of the sixth, but the Hooks answered in the bottom half of the inning. Marty Costes knotted the game at 4-4 with an RBI single before Hensley hit a go-ahead triple to make it 5-4 Corpus.

In the top of the ninth, Jung fouled off four pitches in a row with two outs before singling home Bubba Thompson to even the game again.

After the Hooks loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, Scott Manea laced a walk-off single over Thompson's head in centerfield to win the game 6-5 for Corpus Christi.

Layne Henderson (4-1) earned the win for Corpus Christi, throwing just 0.1 innings in the ninth.

Hever Bueno (4-3) took the loss for Frisco, allowing the winning run in the ninth.

In his start, Jake Latz was strong for the Riders, allowing just one earned run while striking out seven in a no-decision.
