Riders fall 6-2 to Travelers on Friday

Duran finishes with four hits, Nordlin strikes out six

FRISCO, Texas (May 6, 2022) – The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Arkansas Travelers on Friday night at Riders Field, 6-2. Ezequiel Duran became the third Frisco batter this season to finish with a four-hit night, joining Blaine Crim and Jonathan Ornelas.

The RoughRiders (15-10) went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position in Friday’s game and left 11 men aboard.

Reliever Seth Nordlin did not allow an earned run in his 4.2 innings of relief. Nordlin struck out six batters after taking over in the fourth without walking a batter.

Frisco Cody Bradford (2-2) allowed five runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings and finished with no strikeouts for the first time this season. Arkansas reliever Ben Onyshko (1-0) struck out three batters and gave up one hit.

Travelers starter Connor Jones allowed two runs on seven hits in his 4.2 innings, walking seven batters. Frisco struck early in the bottom of the first inning with a Dustin Harris base hit to score Justin Foscue. With the bases loaded, Trey Hair walked to send a 2-0 game into the second.

Arkansas quickly answered with a sacrifice fly from Patrick Frick, trimming the Riders lead to 2-1.

The Travelers tallied four runs in the top of the fourth inning off Bradford with four-consecutive extra-base hits. Jake Scheiner and Zach DeLoach both homered to give Arkansas a 5-2 lead. The Travelers plated one more run in the top of the seventh to cement the 6-2 score.

This week’s series continues Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. with Kentucky Derby at the Diamond, followed by postgame fireworks with Sky-Lit Saturday. Saturday sets up a premier pitching matchup between Rangers top prospect RHP Jack Leiter (0-2, 2.84 ERA) for Frisco against George Kirby (2-0, 1.82 ERA), the Mariners top pitching prospect and 2019 first-rounder.
