GreenJackets Barely Miss Series Sweep

Augusta, GA-With runners in scoring position, one out, and the game tied at four in the top of the thirteenth inning, Andrés Giménez doubled home both runners to put the Columbia Fireflies on top of the Augusta GreenJackets 6-4 Sunday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The GreenJackets failed to score in the bottom of the inning as they barely missed their opportunity for a series sweep.
It was 3-1 in favor of the GreenJackets going into the seventh inning. Luis Carpio hit a single to begin the inning, ending the night for GreenJackets starter Raffi Vizcaino who was solid in his six plus innings of work. He gave up only two runs of three hits. Arnaldo Berrios greeted reliever Sandro Cabrera with a bunt single advancing Carpio to second. Jay Jabs advancing them to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Gimenez reached on a fielding error by second baseman Kelvin Beltre, scoring both runners to tie the game. J.J. Franco and Jacob Zanon drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Ian Strom followed with a single, scoring Gimenez to put the Fireflies on top 4-3.
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Shawon Dunston singled and Jean Angomas reached on an error to begin a rally for the GreenJackets. Jose Vizcaino followed with a single to score Dunston and tie the game at four.
Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth Adam Sonabend hit a two out double to score Sandro Fabian who had previously doubled, to tie the game. With runners in scoring position, Johneshwy Fargas singled home both runners to put the GreenJackets on top 3-1.
The GreenJackets will be back in action Monday night for game one of a three-game series against the Rome Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm with the gates opening at 6:00pm. It is the second Taste of Augusta of the season as part of Feed Your Face Monday presented by Little Caesars and WRDW News 12 WAGT 26.
Yordy Cabrera (0-1, 3.86) will start on the mound for the GreenJackets against Ian Anderson for the Braves (4-5, 3.40).
