GreenJackets fall short in close game

May 3, 2013

AUGUSTA, GA - With the GreenJackets down 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth, catcher Eric Sim got Augusta one run closer to tying it up. Sim hit his first homer of the season over the left field wall. However, the celebration was cut short as the GreenJackets (16-10) lost 3-2 to the Suns (15-11) at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Thursday night.

Chris Stratton (2-2) got off to a great start on the mound, using three strikeouts to end the first inning. Unfortunately, Stratton allowed three runs in the second inning. He finished with five hits, three runs and eight strikeouts in six innings of work.

It wasn't until the seventh inning that the GreenJackets put up their first run of the night.

After reaching on a single to right field, Trevor Brown advanced to second when Sim walked, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Chuckie Jones grounded into a fielder's choice.

Then in the bottom of the ninth with one out, Sim hit the first home run at Lake Olmstead Stadium this season. Sim is hitting .183 with 11 hits and 4 runs after Thursday's game.

The GreenJackets will look to improve their hitting tonight as they face the Suns for the final game of the series.
