GreenJackets Scoreless in Game Three Loss

Joan Gregorio Makes Home Debut

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (34-37) lost to the Asheville Tourists (44-28) on Saturday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The final score was 4-0. This is the second game in the series the Tourists have shutout the GreenJackets.  

Asheville was first on the board with one run scored in the first inning, on a single by Ryan McMahon. The team scored their second run in the second inning. After Alex Mehrten doubled through the hole, Emerson Jiminez tripled to right field which drove in the run. 

The Tourists scored their final two runs in the eighth inning. Right fielder, Ramiel Tapia, singled up the middle to drive in the first run. After Ryan McMahon was walked, Tapia stole third and scored the second run on a fielding error. 

The GreenJackets starting pitcher, Joan Gregorio, made his home debut tonight. Gregorio spent the first half of the 2014 season with the San Jose Giants. During his time with the Giants, Gregorio went 2-2 with an ERA of 6.75 over six games. In the 22.2 innings pitched he walked 13 batters and struck out 27. 

In his home debut with the GreenJackets, Gregorio (0-1) pitched 3.0 innings, gave up three hits, two runs and struck out two. He previously pitched at Savannah on June 15. In that game he pitched three innings without allowing a hit. 

The GreenJackets finish their series against the Tourists on Sunday, June 22. It's a Junior Jackets game!
