'Gades win ninth straight, taking down Cyclones on Tuesday night

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Renegades won their ninth straight game on Tuesday night, taking down the Brooklyn Cyclones 4-1 at Heritage Financial Park behind a strong bullpen performance.

The win for the Renegades extended their winning streak to nine straight games, their longest winning streak since 2022 when the team won nine in a row from July 2-12, 2022.

The Renegades have won 14 of their last 16 games, their best 16-game stretch of the season, an .875 winning percentage.

The win brought the Renegades to five games over .500 on the season for the first time since they fell to Jersey Shore 4-3 on 4/30. The high-water mark for the Renegades this season is six games over .500.

The Renegades improved to 32-23 in the second half, remaining 1.0 game behind the Greensboro Grasshoppers for the second half playoff spot.

The Renegades move to 13-5 overall against Brooklyn, 6-1 at home, and 3-1 in the second half.

Hudson Valley is now 24-35 when opponents score first.

The Renegades did not get a hit through the first three innings. They then grabbed four hits in the next two innings, including a double and a two-run homer.

Brooklyn mustered only four base runners after the fourth inning. The Cyclones loaded the bases in the second inning and stranded four total in the first four innings.

The Renegades turned three double plays for the first time in a single game this season. The Renegades’ previous high was two which they achieved six times.

The last time the Renegades turned three double plays in a game was 9/6/25 vs Greensboro.

The Renegades have turned 51 double plays this season, the fewest in Minor League Baseball this season.

Renegades starting pitchers have thrown a combined 22.1 IP, 12 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 9 BB, 19 K in the last five games.

RHP Brandon Decker (1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K) made his third start of the season and his first since 4/21 against Brooklyn.

Decker loaded the bases in the top of the second but got the next batter to ground into a double play to help keep the scoreboard clean.

Decker has not allowed an earned run in nine of his last 10 outings, dating back to his relief outing on 7/26 at Wilmington.

Since 7/26 Decker is 3-0 with a 0.77 ERA (11.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 9 BB, 10 K) in nine games (1 start).

3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, K) ripped his first High-A homer of his career.

Martin-Grudzielanek had three extra-base hits in 17 games played with the Renegades before grabbing his first home run.

Martin-Grudzielanek hit 9 HR in Single-A with the Tampa Tarpons this season in 93 games.

C Eric Genther (1-for-4, K) increased his on-base streak to 10 games.

Genther is batting .243/.378/.541 over the stretch with 2 2B, 3 HR, 7 R, 9 RBI, 8 BB, 7 K.

CF Maika Niu (1-for-3, RBI) extended his hitting streak to four games.

Niu has 4 RBI in his last two games played. He has at least one RBI in seven of 14 games played.

SS Jackson Lovich (1-for-2, 2B, R, 2 BB) extended his team-high on-base streak to 11 games.

Lovich is batting .359/.480/.667 with a 1.147 OPS over the stretch, including 2B, 3B, 3 HR, 10 R, 12 RBI, 10 BB, 8 K.

RF Dean Toigo (0-for-3) saw his 11-game on-base streak come to an end.
