'Gades winning streak comes to an end in extra-inning marathon loss to the 'Clones

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Renegades saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night, falling 11-5 to the Brooklyn Cyclones at Heritage Financial Park in 10 innings.

The Renegades led 4-0 through six innings, holding the Cyclones to just three hits across those frames.

Brooklyn scored two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to force extra innings. The Renegades had the winning run in scoring position in both the eighth and the ninth but couldn’t bring it home.

Brooklyn batted around in the top of the tenth inning, sending 11 to the plate and scoring seven runs on four hits with four walks.

Hudson Valley moves to 7-7 this season in extra-inning games, breaking their streak of three straight extra-inning game wins (all of which came on the road).

The Renegades have won 14 of their last 17 games, their best 17-game stretch of the season, an .824 winning percentage.

The Renegades move to 13-6 overall against Brooklyn, 6-2 at home, and 3-2 in the second half.

Hudson Valley is now 38-23 when it scores first.

The Renegades did not get a hit from innings six through nine. They got one in the bottom of the tenth inning.

Brooklyn did not get a base runner to second base until the fifth inning. That one runner was the Cyclones’ only to reach second until they scored their first run in the seventh.

The Renegades are 1.0 games back of the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the second half playoff spot after Greensboro lost its game with the Hub City Spartanburgers.

Renegades starting pitchers have thrown a combined 27.0 IP, 15 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 10 BB, 26 K in the last six games.

RHP Luis Serna (4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K) has not allowed a run to score across his last two starts (10.1 IP).

Serna has walked batters in back-to-back games for the first time since 7/1 and 7/8. He has not walked more than two batters in a game since 6/3 at Frederick when he walked five.

Serna has struck out seven-or-more batters in three straight starts. Serna has struck out a total of 22 batters across them.

Serna has not allowed a run to score in three of his last four outings and has allowed just two earned runs across those four games.

Serna leads the South Atlantic League in strikeouts with 128. His 128 strikeouts are 10 shy of Drew Thorpe’s single-season team record of 138 set in 2023.

Serna also leads the SAL with a 3.98 ERA, making him the only qualified pitcher in the league this season with a sub-4.00 ERA.

3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-4, RBI, K) extended his hitting streak to three games.

C Eric Genther (1-for-4, 2B, R, BB) increased his on-base streak to 11 games.

Genther is batting .238/.373/.524 over the stretch with 3 2B, 3 HR, 8 R, 9 RBI, 9 BB, 7 K.

Genther ripped his team-leading 21^st double of the season. Kyle West has the second most on the team with 16.

SS Jackson Lovich (1-for-4, 3B, 2 R, RBI, BB, 3 K) extended his team-high on-base streak to 12 games.

Lovich is batting .349/.473/.674 with a 1.147 OPS over the stretch, including 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, 12 R, 12 RBI, 11 BB, 11 K.

RF Dean Toigo (0-for-2, BB, HBP, K) has gotten on base in 12 of his first 13 professional games.

2B Enmanuel Tejeda (1-for-4, K) extended his hitting streak to four games.

1B David McCann (1-for-4, HR, R, 3 RBI) hit his sixth home run in just his 14^th game played with the Renegades.

McCann has RBIs in seven of his 14 games played with the Renegades.

Wednesday night marked his four multi-RBI outing with Hudson Valley, and his third of three-or-more.

DH Hans Montero (2-for-3, 2 BB, K) grabbed his second multi-hit performance as a Renegades, and his second in his last three games played.

LF Robbie Burnett (0-for-4, BB, K) has gotten on base in six of his last seven games.
