Gades take advantage of sloppy play to win in 10 innings

Lakewood, N.J. (Aug. 22, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws in 10 innings on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. The wins for the Renegades extended their winning streak to seven straight games, their longest winning streak of the season.

Lakewood, N.J. (Aug. 22, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws in 10 innings on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The wins for the Renegades extended their winning streak to seven straight games, their longest winning streak of the season. The last time the Renegades won seven straight games was Aug. 20-25, 2024 when they swept a seven-game series from the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Heritage Financial Park.

The victory was the 18^th win for the Renegades this season when taking the lead in their last at-bat. They have won seven games in that fashion over their last 14 games.

The Renegades have won 12 of their last 14 games, their best 14-game stretch of the season. Hudson Valley has won eight straight road games as part of this streak.

The Renegades improved to 7-6 in extra-inning games this season, their most wins in extra-inning games since they went 7-4 in those games in 2021. This was the team’s second extra-innings win this series and third since 8/9.

The win brought the Renegades to three games over .500 on the season for the first time since they lost to Frederick on 5/12. The high-water mark for the Renegades this season is six games over .500.

The Renegades improved to 30-23 in the second half of the season and are 1.0 games back of Greensboro who currently sit in the second-half playoff spot.

Hudson Valley has allowed only two runs in its last three games with the BlueClaws, picking up wins by final scores of 5-1, 2-0 and 2-1. Additionally, the Renegades have given up only 11 hits in the last three games.

The Renegades move to 12-11 overall against Jersey Shore on the season.

Renegades starting pitchers have thrown a combined 14.2 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 14 K in the last three games.

LHP Allen Facundo (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K) struck out three batters and stranded six runners on base across 5.0 shutout innings.

It was the first start for Facundo that he allowed no runs in since 6/2 at Frederick, a span of 10 starts. He has only allowed fewer than two runs in a start one other time this season (1 R on 6/25 at Bowling Green).

Both hits allowed by Facundo came in the fourth inning and were back-to-back singles by Nate Humphreys and Kodey Shojinaga.

Facundo picked up three more strikeouts and now leads all Yankees minor league pitchers with 136 strikeouts on the season. His 111 strikeouts on the season with the Renegades rank second in the South Atlantic League.

Luis Serna (121) and Facundo rank first and second in strikeouts in the South Atlantic League. They are one of two sets of teammates in MiLB who rank 1-2 in their league in strikeouts, joining Jordy Vargas and Everett Catlett of Spokane, who are first and second in the Northwest League in strikeouts.

Facundo recorded 11 of his outs on groundouts in the game.

SS Jackson Lovich (1-for-4, BB) brought in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10^th inning when he hit a groundball which was booted by first baseman Scott Mudler, allowing automatic runner Eric Genther to score.

C Eric Genther (2-for-5, R, 2B) had his 23^rd multi-hit game of the season including his 20^th double of the season.

Genther is tied with Kaeden Kent for the team lead in doubles and is one of nine Renegades players since 2005 to record a 20-double season.

1B David McCann (2-for-5) brought in the first run of the day for Hudson Valley when he singled to left field and the ball was overrun by TJayy Walton, allowing Maika Niu to score from second base.

CF Maika Niu (1-for-5, R, 2B) had his sixth extra-base hit in 12 professional games with a double in the second inning

RHP Thomas Balboni, Jr. (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K) picked up the win by throwing scoreless innings in the ninth and 10^th innings.

After hitting a batter with two outs in the 10^th, Balboni struck out Juan Villavicencio with the winning run on first base to end the ballgame.

RHP Jose M. Rodriguez (3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K) allowed a double and a single to the first two batters he faced to plate a run, but retired the next nine batters he faced to complete his first 3.0 inning relief outing since joining the Renegades.

Rodriguez has thrown at least 2.0 innings in four of his five outings with Hudson Valley.
