LOUISVILLE, KY. – Will Craig snuck his third home run in the past two games over the wall to straightaway center field, but the Indianapolis Indians offense couldn’t overcome a four-run second inning by the Louisville Bats to drop the fifth game of the series on Saturday night, 6-1.

Following a two-home run performance on Friday night, Craig hit another solo shot in the sixth inning to plate the lone Indians run. It is the second time this season that the Indians first baseman has hit three home runs in a pair of games, with the first coming from May 11-12 vs. Toledo. Craig had his contract selected by Pittsburgh following those two games.

The Bats (17-29) began the scoring and never looked back in the second inning. The frame began with three straight base hits – back-to-back singles by Narciso Crook and Michael De Leon and an RBI double by Brantley Bell – to put Louisville up 2-0 before an out could be recorded. A two-run single by Mallex Smith with one out extended the lead to four.

With the Indians still shut out, Louisville tacked on two more runs with defensive miscues in the fifth inning. An RBI double off the bat of Errol Robinson turned into a Little League home run as the throw into home got away from Indians catcher Joe Hudson.

Indianapolis (25-21) took one run back in the top of the sixth off Craig’s solo home run, but couldn’t battle the Bats pitching in the loss. Bo Takahashi (W, 2-4) surrendered the lone Indians run in his four innings of work, and was sandwiched by scoreless outings from MLB rehabber Sonny Gray, Shane Carle and Edgar Garcia.

Steven Wright (L, 3-3) surrendered all six Bats runs in five innings. Shea Spitzbarth threw a perfect inning in relief, and Tyler Bashlor and Blake Weiman held Louisville’s offense to one hit apiece.

The Indians will look to tie the series vs. their former International League West Division rival tomorrow afternoon in a 1:00 PM ET start. In a rematch of the series opener, RHP Beau Sulser (3-2, 4.35) will face off against RHP Jeff Hoffman (0-0, 0.00), who will make his second rehab start with the Bats.
