Indians Fall to Iowa in Game 4 on Friday Night

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Indians briefly took the lead with a three-run third inning, but the Iowa Cubs came back to defeat them, 9-3, on Friday night at Victory Field. Oneil Cruz went 0-for-1 with two walks and played center field as he today joined Indy on a major league rehab assignment.
With the Indians (23-14, 54-58) trailing 2-0 in the third frame, Termarr Johnson got them on the board with an RBI double to deep right center field. Cruz drew a walk to load the bases and Billy Cook brought the second run home with a run-scoring groundout. Enmanuel Valdez then followed with an RBI groundout of his own to give Indy a 3-2 advantage.
Iowa (15-22, 45-64) quickly tied the game when Chas McCormick hit his 10th home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. Five I-Cubs runs came across in the seventh to put the game away. A final tally was added on a sacrifice fly in the ninth.
Brandon Eisert opened for the Indians and allowed one run over 1.1 innings with bulk man Thomas Harrington behind him; who tossed 3.1 innings of two-run ball. Michael Darrell-Hicks recorded the last out of the fifth inning via strikeout and then punched out the side in order in the sixth. Noah Murdock (L, 0-1) allowed four straight baserunners to begin the seventh inning.
Kohl Franklin tossed 3.0 innings of three-run ball in his Iowa season debut and Paul Campbell (W, 2-5) followed with 3.0 shutout to set up the I-Cubs win.
The six-game series between Indianapolis and Iowa continues Saturday night at 7:05 PM ET. RHP Noah Davis (1-8, 4.45) is scheduled to start for the Indians and an I-Cubs starter has not yet been named.
