The Indianapolis Indians front office staff is full of hardworking, dedicated individuals who take pride in their work and love to have fun. No one embodies that more than Jonathan Howard.

A Buckeye by birth, Hoosier by childhood and Kentuckian by his love for all things Louisville, following his intern year with the Indianapolis Indians in 2005, Howard found himself out of the eastern half of the Midwest altogether.

With a year of full-time experience in tickets with the Kansas City Wizards – now named Sporting KC, Kansas City’s MLS club – Howard’s continued connections with the Indians brought him back to his family and friends.

He takes pride in milestones he’s set with the Indians thus far, and he’s enthusiastic about what the ticket sales staff might be able to accomplish at Victory Field in 2021 and beyond.

Favorite part of working with the Indians?

Oh, wow. Well, if I must pick one, I would probably say the camaraderie I have with my coworkers. I’ve made several lifelong friends working here. But also, it’s great to work for an organization that is so well run, so well respected in the community and in such a great market.

What is your best memory with the Indians?

Outside of Indians games, all of the Super Bowl activities in 2012. It was pretty crazy. Indians-related, I’ve seen a couple great games during my time working here. The double cycle in 2018, for one, and then Ian Snell’s no-hitter during my intern year. I was in the advance ticket window that day, so I got to watch it happen.

What are you most proud of during your time with the Indians?

What I’m most proud of is reaching one million dollars in sales individually and then sustaining it for the past couple of years. I’ve been able to grow my customer relationships and client base during that time, and with assistance from my superiors, I’ve been able to hit that threshold.

Where is your favorite place to eat?

Part of me wants to say Texas Roadhouse because I love it so much. The very first Texas Roadhouse opened in Clarksville, Ind., in the Green Tree Mall where I worked, so I went there a lot. It’s Louisville, Ky. based, so I’ve got to support anything from Louisville. It’s my favorite chain. Long’s Donuts, maybe? I mean, there are so many.

What do you do in your free time?

Yard work. It never stops. That’s literally all I do in my free time, and with our line of work and being at the ballpark in the summer, it takes a little bit of planning. I also love watching sports, including local basketball, Indiana football, the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Cubs, and my favorite – University of Louisville basketball. I also golf a lot.

How many times have you participated in the Indians charity golf tournament, and what is your favorite part about the event?

I’ve participated in almost every Indians golf outing. Seeing my coworkers and friends outside of the office environment is always a fun experience.
