BlueClaws No-Hit in Saturday Loss to Aberdeen

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Three IronBirds combined to no-hit the BlueClaws in a 6-0 IronBirds win on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. Peter Van Loon, who went five, Daniel Lloyd, who went three, and Xavier Moore, who threw the ninth, combined on the second no-hitter in IronBirds history.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Three IronBirds combined to no-hit the BlueClaws in a 6-0 IronBirds win on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. Peter Van Loon, who went five, Daniel Lloyd, who went three, and Xavier Moore, who threw the ninth, combined on the second no-hitter in IronBirds history.

It marked the second time Jersey Shore had been no-hit. They were previously held hitless on July 23, 2008 in Asheville.

Van Loon (7-0) threw the first five for Aberdeen. He walked two and hit one but did not allow a hit. In earning the win, Van Loon became the first in the South Atlantic League to win seven games this year. He walked two and hit one. Lloyd walked one and retired nine of the 10 batters he faced. Moore hit Johan Rojas with one out in the ninth, but got DJ Stewart and Carlos De La Cruz to ground out to end the game.

Colton Cowser opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning to put the IronBirds up 1-0.

Aberdeen added five more runs in the third. Cowser's RBI single made it 2-0. Rmon Rodriguez added an RBI single and Isaac Bellony a two-run double. Michael Mantecon followed with an RBI single to put the IronBirds up 6-0.

Cowser had three hits and drove in two for the IronBirds.

BlueClaws starter Ben Brown (2-4) gave up six runs in three innings and took the loss.

The teams finish their series on Sunday at 1:05 pm.
