Castellano Sharp, Boyd, Schreffler Lead Bats in 6-3 Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Troy Schreffler homered and Eiberson Castellano struck out eight Cyclones over four scoreless innings as the BlueClaws topped Brooklyn 6-3 on Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Troy Schreffler homered and Eiberson Castellano struck out eight Cyclones over four scoreless innings as the BlueClaws topped Brooklyn 6-3 on Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

With the win, the BlueClaws improve to 8-5 on the season while the Cyclones fall to 5-8. Jersey Shore has won three of four in the series.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Otto Kemp. He drove in Bryan Rincon who started the inning with a double. Andrick Nava singled in the second, driving home Emaarion Boyd, to make it 2-0.

Jersey Shore tacked on two more in the fourth. Troy Schreffler hit his second home run of the year out to left-center to make it 3-0. After Emaarion Boyd singled, stole second, and went to third on a flyout, he scored on a wild pitch.

Meanwhile, Eiberson Castellano was sharp. The right-hander gave up one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out eight Cyclones.

Brooklyn scored twice off Charles King in the ninth to cut the lead to 6-3, but King struck out Mateo Gil with a runner on base to end the game.

Boyd had three hits for the BlueClaws while Kemp, Reyes, and Schreffler each had two. Boyd stole two bases, giving him three on the year, and Cade Fergus stole one.

Nate Karaffa (1-0) gave up one hit over two scoreless innings to earn the win.

The teams continue their series on Saturday at 4:05 pm. RHP Estibenzon Jimenez starts for Jersey Shore.
