Championship Banner Raising Charity Auction on eBay
The BlueClaws have put the opportunity on eBay (click here to bid ), with all proceeds from the auction going directly to BlueClaws Charities.
When the Phillies won their 2008 World Series title and raised the banner on Opening Day 2009, it was manager Charlie Manuel who physically pulled the strings. But as the BlueClaws raise their championship banner, it will be one area BlueClaws fan.
"This is going to be a tremendous opportunity for someone," said BlueClaws Assistant General Manager Brandon Marano, who raised the 2006 Championship Banner on Opening Day in 2007. "From personal experience, it's a little nerve-wracking and exciting, but it's truly one of my favorite memories from my nine years here."
BlueClaws Charities, the non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws, contributed over $150,000 to area organizations and fundraising events in 2009.
"Being a strong and active part of the community has been a priority for us since day one," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It's through programs like this that we can continue to make that possible."
The 10-day auction will end on Friday, April 9th, one week before Opening Day. The banner will be raised in a pre-game ceremony on April 16th.
The BlueClaws have led the South Atlantic League in attendance in each year of existence and offer the most affordable baseball ticket in New Jersey. Ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now by calling 732-901-7000 or online at www.BlueClaws.com.
