De La Cruz Homers, BlueClaws Fall 6-5 on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, DE - Carlos De La Cruz homered for the second straight day but the BlueClaws lost a 5-1 lead and lost 6-5 to Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon at Frawley Stadium.

WILMINGTON, DE - Carlos De La Cruz homered for the second straight day but the BlueClaws lost a 5-1 lead and lost 6-5 to Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon at Frawley Stadium.

Jersey Shore (32-59) had taken the series opener from Wilmington (48-42) on Tuesday.

The Blue Rocks scored five times off rehabbing reliever Cam Bedrosian (0-1) in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kevin Strohscein doubled in two runs before Onix Vega's three run home run that gave Wilmington a 6-5 lead.

BlueClaws 3B Freylin Minyety tied the game in the bottom of the first with an RBI groundout and Jersey Shore took the lead on De La Cruz's home run in the fourth. It was his ninth of the year and fourth in the last four games.

Minyety and Ethan Wilson had RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-1 and Baron Radcliff doubled home a run in the sixth to put the BlueClaws up 5-1.

Jersey Shore starter Rafael Marcano gave up one run in five innings with six innings but did not factor in the decision. Taylor Lehman and Andrew Baker each threw scoreless innings in relief.

Wilson had two hits for the BlueClaws in the loss.

Richard Guasch got the last eight outs to earn his first save.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night and will play a double-header beginning at 5:05 pm. RHP Kyle Glogoski and RHP Ben Brown will start the pair for Jersey Shore.
